Philly Mayor Saves Christmas!

Okay, that may be overstating things a bit - well maybe a lot, but even though this is a very small victory for our side in an overall much larger War on Christmas, a victory it still is.

Via philly.com:

Breaking News from City Hall:

Christmas is back.

Mayor Nutter, after sustaining two days of controversy, wants "Christmas" back up on the signs at the entrance to the German Christmas Village at City Hall. Nutter told PhillyClout he spoke with the village organizer and the sign should be back up by tomorrow.

Nutter said the decision came after "personal reflection" on the matter.

"We are an international, multi-ethnic, multi-faith city," Nutter said. "I took some time to step back from all of this to think about it in a larger context.

You can read the whole thing at this link.

It's too bad that in a supposedly free country we who know the true "reason for the season" are constantly subjected to the PC whims of a bunch of Christ, Christian and Christmas-hating bigots, who somehow have developed the belief that they posses the "right" to impose their bigotry on us by restricting our 1st Amendment rights.

What I have found so distressing about all this is the Christian community's tepid response to these assaults on our freedoms. It's time to grow a spine, start throwing this stuff back in their faces and tell them to get lost if they don't like it.

One thing I have been doing for years is that, every time I get the PC "Happy Holidays" greeting, I respond with, "Merry Christmas to you, too." I have often gotten some strange looks in return, and a few people appeared somewhat offended by my reply, but so what?

Just exactly where in the Constitution of the United States does it say people have a right not to be offended?

And if someone is truly offended by anything related to Christmas (and what sort of a miserable, self-hating wretch does one have to be in order to be offended here, anyway), perhaps they would feel more comfortable living in somebody else's country.

Like North Korea.

If you'll pop for the one-way ticket, I'll happily drive them to the airport - for free.

ObamaCare Is Not Just Coming, It's Here

I realize many republicans and conservatives are jumping for joy over the prospects of a republican landslide next November, as they truly believe that a party just voted out of congressional power a mere four years ago is going to somehow be swept back in by voters who are fearful of Obama and his atrocious policies, and all is going to be right with the world.

Speaking purely for myself, I am not at all convinced that is going to happen, and for a whole lot of reasons I won't get into just yet.

For now, I will only say that any victory by the republicans that falls short of the numbers required to override presidential vetoes in both houses of congress will be a decidedly hollow one, as the next congress can start sending up repeal after repeal, only to see them be hit with the dreaded veto pen each time one lands on Obama's desk.

As I have explained before, I believe this nation is currently under a rapidly advancing communist coup, which is anchored around two main linchpins: ObamaCare and Cap & Trade - ObamaCare because it will essentially mean handing control of our individual bodies over to the federal government, and Cap & Trade because it will similarly hand over control of most everything else in our lives.

I firmly believe that if both of these hideous pieces of legislation become law that America, as we know it, is finished.

Many assume, and I believe falsely, that ObamCare is in trouble. Sorry, but the crucial vote regarding that freedom-destroying piece of legislation occurred this past Christmas Eve, and the measure managed to pass. The narrow margin by which it did so is now irrelevant.

As for Cap & Trade, that can now be implemented without further congressional approval, as the EPA has the authority to bring it to fruition, and the Obama administration has already threatened to let them do it.

Unconstitutional you say? Tough shit, as you should have been concerned about that back when the EPA was being proposed and was thus given powers all out of proportion to what the authors of our Constitution ever envisioned.

I believe ObamaCare, or as I like to call it, CommieCare, is going to be signed into law without any further votes taking place in congress.

Why? Because if the coup that is now under way is to be successful, the federal government must get control of our nation's health care system. The Soviets did it. The North Vietnamese did it. The NORKS did it, as did the Chinese and the Albanians.

Why people think it won't happen here is beyond me.

Just don't hold your breath waiting for another congressional vote on ObamaCare, because I do not believe there will be one:

When the House passed its version, members assumed it would be reconciled with the Senate bill and then sent back to both chambers for final approval, even if by the narrowest of margins.

A GOP win in Massachusetts on Tuesday would likely kill that plan, because Republicans could block Senate action on the reconciled bill.

The newly discussed fallback would require House Democrats to swallow hard and approve the Senate-passed bill without changes. President Barack Obama could sign it into law without another Senate vote needed.

The far left is much too close to pulling off the outright seizure of our private health care system to give it up it now. After all, they have been working toward this moment for over 100 years. Another vote might just kill it, as I am sure even some of the blindest of the congress-critters can now see the pitchforks gathering.

Should CommieCare become law, and I am now convinced it will, the earliest shot the republicans will have at dismantling it will not come around until January of 2013, which is three years from now.

And that is assuming they have been elected in sufficient numbers, as well if they even have the stones to do it.

Here We Go Again

With another Christmas season just around the corner, the God, country and freedom-haters are once again gearing up to try and stamp Christ out of Christmas. They will, of course, fail miserably, but that isn't going to prevent them from trying:
John Satawa's family has displayed a nativity scene on a street median in Warren, Mich., virtually every Christmas season since 1945, but following an intimidating letter sent by the Freedom from Religion Foundation, Satawa's county has put stop to the 63-year-old tradition.

The Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation proclaims its purpose in the letter to the Road Commission of Macomb County was to "protect the fundamental constitutional principle of separation of church and state."

But Satawa contends there's nothing unconstitutional about his privately owned and maintained Christmas display. With the help of the Thomas More Law Center, Satawa has filed a case in U.S. district court asking the judge to declare the county's crèche rejection unconstitutional instead and order officials to permit its display.

But in December of 2008, the Freedom from Religion Foundation sent the county a complaint letter.

It read, in part, "When the county displays this manger scene, which depicts the legendary birth of Jesus Christ, it places in imprimatur of the Macomb County government behind the Christian religious doctrine. This excludes citizens who are not Christian – Jews, Native American religion practitioners, animists, etc., as well as the significant and growing population that is not religious at all."

You will find the entire WorldNetDaily story here.

I fully expect Mr. Satawa will prevail in this matter, given past Supreme Court rulings. I just find it sad, and not a little infuriating, that an American citizen has to go the trouble and expense of going to court to assert his constitutional rights to freedom of speech and expression.

I also condemn the unfortunate action taken by the Road Commission of Macomb County for their having spinelessly caved in to the Freedom from Religion Foundation, apparently without bothering to educate themselves as to the relevant laws involved.

This unfortunate affair is a reminder to all of us as to just how fragile our hard-won freedoms and liberties truly are, and that we must remain vigilant at all times, lest we wake up one morning only to realize we have lost them forever.

Benjamin Netanyahu's UN Address

Nailed it.

Note: There are four parts to this speech, and they should come up in order. If they don't, you will find them here.

Evangelical Group Banned From Tulsa Housing Project

This despite a SCOTUS ruling in 2001 affirming that religious groups had the same rights as any other citizen's groups when it comes to the use of public institutions:

For more than 70 years, the Missouri-based Child Evangelism Fellowship has worked with underprivileged kids, not only to convert them to Christianity, but to improve their lives through education and after-school activities. In one program, fellowship missionaries visit prisons and sign up inmates' children for Bible study programs in an effort to keep them from winding up in jail themselves.

And for more than two decades, the fellowship has hosted a religious-themed summer program in Tulsa's tough housing projects, designed to keep children from falling victim to the temptations of drugs and crime.

But recently, the fellowship was told that it was in violation of a long-standing policy prohibiting religious instruction on public housing property, said Larry Koehn, who heads the organization's chapter in the city.

"They said they have a policy now whereby we can't come in and talk about God or Christ," Koehn said. "We can come in and play games and talk about moral things, but we can't mention the name of God."

Sadly, it appears Christians are becoming more and more marginalized in today's America.
