The First Shot is Fired

Congratulations to Scott Brown for his electoral defeat of Martha Coakley in yesterday's special Massachusetts Senate election.

He ran on what was essentially a national platform, which was aimed squarely at all things Obama, and yet still managed to win the seat many had been referring to as "Ted Kennedy's."

At the end of the day, it wasn't "the swimmer's" seat after all.

Just don't tell Eleanor Clift that, else she might just have a stroke.

What took place in Massachusetts yesterday gives me a glimmer of hope for the future of our republic, but we are still many, many miles away from preserving it intact for our young.

Scott Brown's victory may have been merely a BB shot across the bow of the SS Obama.

Let us all hope that this coming November the heavy artillery comes out.

A BB shot and yes, a glimmer of hope. MA hasn't elected a republican since what, 1972, 77, 66? (I've seen varied dates.) But this has got to give you hope...the Tea Party movement is alive! Go Brown!

Great post, Dave! Onto November 2010. Even Barbara Boxer's reelection in Calif is looking dicey!

Dave,

Last night was great news, but there is something about all this that is bothering me and I cannot for the life of me put my finger on it.

Let's hope and pray that this is one of those stones-dropping-in-a-pond moment whereas the ripples go on and on.

Doesn't it feel a lot like rising from the dead? Remember how horrible we felt last November? Hopeless, helpless, lost, suicidal, homicidal. Last night proved that we do, indeed, have a voice. We do, indeed, know how to turn things around. God bless Massachusetts, especially the ones who have figured out what's going on in this administration. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Love

Thanks, everybody!

Gio,

What may be bothering you is the same thing that is bothering me, and that is the repubs hideous tendency to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Scott Brown showed the way.

I hope the party leadership was paying attention.

Granny,
Yeah, and don't forget some of us (as in me) were beginning to worry about our sanity, too. :-)
