The National Rifle Association says it has very serious concerns about Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor based on her rulings on weapons rights. You can read the entire Newsmax article here, but I have posted the relevant part above.
But NRA Executive Director Chris W. Cox tells senators in a letter that his group is not yet ready to officially oppose Sotomayor.
Cox says Sotomayor's ruling as an appeals court judge that the Second Amendment prohibition against curbs on the right to bear arms only limits the federal government — not states — is extremely troubling. He says the judge has been "dismissive" of gun rights.
The letter urges senators to question Sotomayor on the Second Amendment during upcoming hearings. Cox says the NRA will oppose confirmation if her answers are hostile or evasive.
So, Cox says the NRA is not yet ready to oppose this woman?
When will they be ready? Will it be after she is seated on the SCOTUS and votes to uphold a repeal of the 2nd Amendment?
This woman has no business having a seat on the highest court in the land.
Now you know why I left the NRA back in the late 1990's, and haven't looked back since.
